May 04 Returned From The DeadJust goes to show you that even I can take time now to play around on this msn space thingie. So I am back from the dead and trying to see if this place has enough calamari for everybody else once I get through with it. Tis a beautiful place and it is a good thing to be able to spend more time with my family (as my daughter climbs all over this while I'm typing this lol!) December 10 Me
November 12 Hooters anyone? When the manager for Hooters walks into the office and asks us to set up a table for there Veteran's Day party what could we say? Bring on the wings!!! So we went and ate and ate and took pictures and handed out navy gear because we could. So it was a pretty good Veteran's Day. And if you get a chance thank a veteran or someone who is still serving. They will appreciate it. So It was Drunk Out That NightI figured it was time I told my side of the story about the Navy Award Ball. So, my story, I was not drunk, not even a little bit...I was fucking PLASTERED!!! LOL. Between getting lit at the ball and then wandering around Bricktown in OKC and finally winding up at Toby Keith's Bar (and dagnabit the man wasn't there!!) So I endeavored to see if there was a bottom to the well. Never did find it, but had fun trying. Stumbled back to the hotel room, past 4 cop cars, and made my way to the room. Then visited the porcelain god. Thank god he takes offerings. Woke up with no hangover and thats my story and I'm sticking to it. Yup, it was real drunk out that night. October 10 Payback Is A B*@%#9 out of 10...9 OUT OF TEN!!! That's how many times the Eagles had the Cowboys number. But not today, baby!!! Right out of the box, the Cowboys started swinging knockout punches. Bledsoe lights up the scoreboard with TD's to Glenn twice. Polite, a damn fullback even gets in a TD. The defense rocked rolled and sacked like no other! Not one sack, but 4!! The rookie Demarcus Ware sacks McNabb first, then its all over but the funeral. Now to give McNabb a little slack, he is playing with a sports hernia, so every move is pain. My hat's off to him for even playing the game! The rookie Tyson Thompson rushes for 75 yards after Julius Jones is pulled due to a leg injury but if this kid is going to replace him, I'LL TAKE HIM!!! Of course there was a little disarray with the Cowboys between Bledsoe and Keyshawn but oh well, when it came down they both helped win the day!! And Bledsoe, the guy the Bills said was washed up, well if that is washed up, then I would hate to see brand new!! Everyone said that they should not be able to win this game, that the Eagles had too much offense and defense, but when it came right down it, The Cowboys still won. Just my little rant, but no matter what, W-I-N!!! I would talk about the Niners but there is so much pain there I'm sure for my little bro that I won't bring it up!!! October 07 Thank YouWell it's that time of the year again...Birthdays October 05 The Power of a VoiceYou know I was relaxing on a drive back from an interview today listening to music, more specifically listening to Andrea Bocelli an italian singer, and a thought came to me. Normally, I do my best thinking on the toilet but this time it was one of those car moments. I thought about singing and I mean real singing not the nonsense that normally comes out of the radio these days. What happened to that? I mean, here I am listening to a man singing in Italian, I do not really have a clue what he's singing except for a few words here and there, and I am struck by the power and emotion of his voice. There is power in music but these days people mistake that for meaning louder horns or synthesizer beats or whatever. Country music while it does have people that have good voices has not had a powerful emotion driven singer since Collin Raye. The only one who comes close in country now is Martina McBride. And pop music? The late 80s with Michael Bolton to name just one singer that stirred feelings in your heart. We won't even discuss hip-hop, rap, or alternative/grunge music. These all have a place as music of a kind, but when is the last time we heard someone sing something and said "I have no idea what this person is singing about but I can feel the emotion of that song and voice?" The answer is a long time ago. I used to sing consistently, I would sing for hours, when I was in high school my talents taking me to state-wide competitions yearly. But even I didn't really realize till I heard this man sing that music, the kind of music that really means something, isn't dead. It is just dead in America. It is more important to have a song with a good beat or that tells a cool story than to have a simple song sung by someone who has a voice that can make you cry, laugh, smile, get angry, etc. Maybe I'm wrong, if so mark it down because it is a first, but when you have to listen to another countries artist sing a song you don't understand to realize that singing of that kind isn't extinct then I say that there is definetly something wrong with the way we look at music today. |
